I have the valve lever open and opened and closed a few times.Hi one of the intakes is not working after being in hard standing over winter.
she had a 50% antifreeze in.
now back in the water and no water from exhaust fromthat one. Thanks
Hi thanks that is the set up.If I understand your setup correctly, you have two intakes and filters (switchable) to the same engine? If so, with one working okay I guess it can be assumed the raw water pump is pumping okay.
If you are suspecting a blockage on one of the intakes, you can remove the pipe from the intake to the bottom of the strainer, and blow down it with a dinghy pump. That's worked for me in the past to clear crud.
hi good thinking and thanks for the response ?If I understand your setup correctly, you have two intakes and filters (switchable) to the same engine? If so, with one working okay I guess it can be assumed the raw water pump is pumping okay.

Hi thanks. yes it is a change over thing. Is that black switch for choosing which filter to use?
At the risk of pointing out the obvious, is it working ok?Hi thanks. yes it is a change over thing.

Thanks I will swap the lids over and see. I am worried about running the engine if no water pumps through while I check it though? ?Try a new sealing ring in the strainer lid. It may not be air tight therefore not priming well. Also check other hose connections as mentioned above.
Hi thanks I put some rods down and no blockage and the valve opens and closes down the rod.Do your seacocks have strainers/gratings on the outside? Given the internal strainer/seacock arrangement rodding them through is easy enough. The only other possibility is the sealing of the lid of the misbehaving strainer.
Stick a table tennis ball in the strainer before you put the lid on, you’ll soon see if it’s got water flow. Thanks I will swap the lids over and see. I am worried about running the engine if no water pumps through while I check it though? ?![]()
Hi thanks that is the set up.
hi good thinking and thanks for the response ?
the set up is how you described I have pushed some fibreglass rods what Electricians use and it is clear and the value opens and closes on to the rods. It is strange as I thought the valve could of been faulty.
Any other ideas?
I think so I poked aAt the risk of pointing out the obvious, is it working ok?
hi the rod went around 2 feet out of the bottom lol. I ran a hose in to the strainer while running engine water came out of the exhaust when I put the strainer lid back on, no water from the exhaust ?It could be weed or something external to the skin fitting. Can you wire all the way to outside the boat?
Have your tried priming the strainer by filling with water?
