At high water when the back ebb is running out from Penarth, would you experience less tide passing the Rannie to port?

Recently we had 2knts at HW whilst passing about half way between the Rannie and shoreline.

Would welcome some feedback.

Thanks

The tide rip does seem to be reasonably close to rannie. I once anchored about 1/3 way from the shore fishing, and you could see a clear 'line' where the tide rip is. So yes, less tide closer inshore - just don't go too close!

Spring tides i have seen that bouy doing about 5 knots it seems, but on neaps about 2 knots, there is always an ebb close inshore near penarth beach.
