Last Wednesday/Thursday Guapa was in Ramsgate.

One hour before LW there was still 3m of water motoring into the marina. Once inside (we were moored inside of the western breakwater) there was never less than 2.8m.

Still some dredging going on in the eastern end (where the fishing boats are).

All in all, good run ashore.

Marina staff seem to have been on a 'customer service' course - very helpful/friendly.
Port Control still as surly as ever. Only seem to have ferries on their mind and treat yachts as a nuisance.

We were there last weekend and was pleased to see all the fingers had been put back and dredging to have been finished in the western marina. Must admit to never really having a problem with Port Control, I have found them on the whole to polite enough, maybe I have just been lucky.

Never had a problem with port control, always polite and efficient. What exactly did you say them?!

Very lumpy seas
Guapa under sail making just over 8kts
Called Port Control when we were by Nr 4 buoy - just .4NM out
Asked permission to enter under sail and recover the sails in the outer harbour before proceeding to the marina.
Answer: No, you can't we have a ferry leaving in 20 minutes.:confused:

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out that we would be tucked up in the marina well before the ferry set sail.

As it was, were forced to recover the sails outside and spend a very uncomfortable half hour waiting for a bloody ferry to sail.

I have had the same singlehanded, then to top it the ferry was delayed sailing as a French yacht ignored the lights and went straight in.
