Rain X products

Hi, anyone with experience of using RainX products. Worthwhile? Application advice?
I recall trying rainX on my car some years back, and seemed to cause smearing when using the wipers. Must have applied it incorrectly, and never got around to researching after that.
I see they now also have a product for Plastic , so wondering if this would be good on the canopy windows. Helping to reduce all the salt build up from spray assuming the spray will bead off?

And finally, I saw they have an anti-fogging spray. I have sliding side windows in my cockpit, which fog up sometimes in-between the glass panes

I have been using RainX on the outside of my windscreen for 2 years. It's glass not plastic.. Excellent. I do not have windscreen washers and due to the constant smearing as the salty water dried I was considering fitting some untill I discovered RainX.

I have wipers and washers but still use rainex. If I apply every couple of months I would probably not need the wipers but I'm lazy and only apply when the boat is out for the annual maintenance bits. Well worth using imo

I use liquid wax on the windows it work s a treat for beading off the water spray .

I have used it for years on everything, smearing problems often arise from incorrect application and failing to allow it to dry, then applying a second coat and washing the surplus off.

Rain X works by micro polishing the glass to nano particle size and to do this you only use a very thin coating, it is applied to the glass in different directions to get full coverage, then let it dry, it becomes hazy.
Apply a second thin coat over the first coat in exactly the same way and allow this to haze, then wash it off using clean water and brush or wipe well to remove the residue and ensure you use plenty of clean water while you rinse.

This should cure the smearing problems.

I think RainX works great, both for cars and boats. Been using it on both for years and no plans of changing.

I've used RainX and FogX on boats and cars for a number of years both work well.
You do have to apply the RainX on windscreens as they advise otherwise it does smear when using windscreen wipers.
FogX works a treat on bathroom / heads mirrors .

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like I should have read the instructions properly . I'll give this a go

Use to use it on my 19' bowrider that had no wipers on the windscreen. Was quite effective.

You can use it on glass or most plastics, but check for the plastic type with the manufacturers.

Used to use use rainex to polish the hull when ZapCat racing. Don’t know if it made much difference but certainly raised eyebrows the pits.
