Re: Kewwel

Strange language these youngsters, were we like that once?

I say to my 12 yr old daughter 'it's going to be warm & sunny tomorrow, we can go out on the boat'. She replies 'Kewwel'. I say 'no, warm & sunny' and get a strange look!

BTW like Grahams new picture, but I'm sure his ears are bigger now.

Re: Re Crap

Er Well. I'd never thought of contacting the coast guard from the marina and I dont know whether the seas round Plymouth are High or Low ones??
But every now and again whether in the marina when I'm calling them or out on the high-low seas I get loud noises for maybe a minute or two, then everything OK again. I've always put it down to some prat with a faulty radio some place drowning everything out.
Perhaps I should just stop frying eggs on the radio. Would that help??

Re: Radio\'s

Interference specific to VHF channels can come from such things as an Echo Sounder or Plotter. If say you have a constant interference or clicking noise on say channel 67 this could be the problem, also applies to 14. These are those I know of. To isolate the problem turn all electronics off barring the VHF. Switch them on one by one until the find the offending item. You can sometimes solve the problem by moving the lead(s) away from the VHF aerial or VHF arial lead. You can also try wrapping leads in aluminium or tinfoil.

Re: Radio\'s

I have the same problems. I put it down to some other idiot having left the transmit button on channel 16. As for not hearing the forecast on C 10 or wherever I am convinced they sometimes forget to broadcast it - I have sometimes waited ages with nothing doing.

Re: Radio\'s

I've had a CG rib come alongside to check that we were not transmitting on 16 (we weren't!) so it is a problem all along the coast.

Re: Radio\'s - Temperature?

Thought you might like to know my VHF radio works fine and I've never had a problem. Except I couldn't get Terry Wogan or Gardeners Question Time in Holland. Could this be related to H's problem?

Just though I'd share that with you all in a non threatening, non confrontational friendly kind of way.
