Do renewal reminders get sent out? If not how do I renew.

Also am I right in thinking that I still need the UK licence although I am in Majorca?

Thanks for any help

Your operators licence is valid for life if you did it in the UK. There is no need to renew it unless you wish to operate a DSC set. I don't know about Europe but here in the UK it is only your ships radio licence which is renewable every year for the princely sum of £20!

Oh, and your SRC certificate is valid worldwide.

Yes - you should and it will be sent to your registered UK address. However, if you are permanently based in the Med then I think you will have to look at Spanish regulations. But I would think that your UK version will do - but don't take that on authority, but if your boat is UK registered then you should have no problems.

I think you get a reminder. Having said which, mine expires for the first time in Feb. and I haven't received anything yet.

Assuming that local Spanish regs require some kind of certification for your radio, I'd have thought that a UK one should be as good as any (we're all in the EU, after all) though I suppose it may depend on your boat's registry. If it's on the UK SSR then I'd have thought it would be best to be consistent and to have a UK ship's radio license as well?

As long as you haven't changed address without telling us you should receive the licence reminder around 6 weeks prior to expiry.

If the boat or you (if boat isn't registered) have changed nationality you will need to acquire a new licence with callsign, MMSI number etc from your new flag. If not you retain the UK licence with UK Identities.

Its just arrived this morning, but it expires tomorrow.

I seem to remember the same poor administration last year.
