Radice shaft seal sizes

I had planned to get a Radice shaft seal but I measured my stern tube diameter behind the existing Volvo seal and got 52.7mm. Lake Engineering in Poole quoted the maximum stern tube diameter for a Radice seal to fit on a 1 inch prop as being around 40mm - am I measuring in the wrong place?

According to Volvo literature, their 1inch seal fits a 1.75" (44.45mm) sterntube. This is presumable the one you are replacing. Their 25mm seal fits a 42mm OD tube. Stated tolerance is +/- 0.1mm.

Both Radice 's 1inch and 25mm seals fits a 42mm tube, although there is an alternative 25mm seal to fit a 39mm tube.

I have just done the same but found that after slackening off the existing Volvo seal and easing it forward a bit the stern tube actually steps down to a smaller 42mm diameter with a 25mm prop shaft, I have not fitted the new Radice seal yet.

Have recently replaced a Volvo with a Radice. Exactly the same size.
