I'm sure there must be scope for a radar refector hat, set in the rain catcher position it will keep you dry and protect you from harmful rays, do you want me to knock one up for you? Perhaps we can get PBO to do a test on it?

<hr width=100% size=1>.. when's that again, but ..

I'd have thought Au Pair was better than inflatable SWMBO....

Anyway I was meaning one of <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.force4.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Radar_reflectors___Horns_66.html>these</A> (right down to bottom of page, please!)

Confused of Hythe

I am very keen to fit a radar reflector and just can't work out which one to get. The Echomax seems fair value and seems to get reasonable reports but then I hear that the more expensive ones such as Cyclops or Seeme are better still....

Next issue is where do I mount the thing on my Corniche??

I am really confused by all this so if anyone can guide me I would be grateful.......

on boats over 20 feet, it's a legal; solas requiremennt. yes they do work, better in motor boats than sailing boats, due to heel, but of course a lot of sail boats have them higher up. i can garuantee they work, in ccertain conditions, I've done personal tests with mine and my brotheres boat, but i still work on the assumption, that nobody can see me and i make appropriate decisions.

The one I have is shown at the top, I see the one you are talking about, but I am just as confused by all the different models and possibly wild talk of their capabilities. I am not happy to throw any more money at any others until I can see some facts and figures from independent tests. If I did not have one at the moment then I may have been tempted /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Ah I can see you are a potential market for the RRH, what headsize are you and do you want a cooling system fitted?

<hr width=100% size=1>.. when's that again, but ..

Optional extra - foil lined underwear would both increase reflective area, and provide increased protection from harmful rays.

It's possible that some ladies would appear on radar from vast distances

I've one of those cylindrical things encased in plastic about a foot long and 3" dia which has a lot of vanes inside. Fits into bayonet fitting on radar arch. Bought in Brighton, made in Scandinavia, I think. Don't know if it works. From what I read in a comparison test some time back I suspect it doesn't. It went all yellow and grotty in the sun (sorry) so I took it off.

Ohhh....you naughty boy.

Never mind though people probably still can't see you.

Current boat has a large firdell blipper mounted 40' up mast. The new boat wont have one permanently fitted, but will either have a SeeMee on a removable pole aft, and the inflatable as a spare backup.
