Yes, I remeber some of the things we used to say - like I once asked a black shop worker in the US for a pair of n*gg*r brown shoes, genuinely without thinking of it because thats the way we described that mid brown colour. And the same with the "ethnic minority in the woodpile" and "working like a n*gg*r"

It was never meant in a hurtful or offensive way and it never bothered me to be described as a honky. But I guess we are better off without these words now.

Incidentally , a teacher told me that she was no longer allowed to refer to blackboards or whiteboards - they had to be writeboards. Bit too far when you cannot use the legit words for a colour!

On the basis you've lived here for 800 years then you can't be human, you could just be immortal, but on any basis you are different so probably the doctors etc. would not know how to fix you.

hi guys happy new year to one and all . well now we dont seem to have that problem here we got all and all seem to have bigger and better boats . and are great to be out and about with . they all go to boat shows camping shows .ba rbies on beach you name it . all nations are same some like doing things i dont fredom of choice i think they call it . and just as a personel question to one and all are there any nats on here ??? that sail go to boat shows ect ect. dave

Of course there should be no bar, but any such association is showing racism, sexism or whatever - there just do not seem to be many 'ethnic minorities' coming forward; it's not that they are strapped for cash. I wonder what might be the attitude of some of our more prestigious 'blue ensign' clubs might be to an approach for membership.

I also read recently that 1 fifth of people in Scotland were of Iraqui descent ie the 4/5 ths as you correctly say were hunter gatherers from Northern Europe but the 1/5 were agricultural farmers from Messopotamia

I dont know however where the Albans who inhabited Orkney and Shetland 5000 years ago and hunted walrus came from, perhaps North Africa

Shouldent be to hard to find one amazing what comes out of mosques suppose he wants one that can utter some local language perhaps English or Welsh even Scotish but not muslim after all there is a British culture? and just listen to what muslims and nigerians have to say they have their culture which in Britain counts far more than the downtroden oppresed and outcast British

Lived in Lambeth many years ago. Whenever times were hard (frequent occurance) we used to talk about forming a black jewish lesbians' society (if we could find any). Guaranteed loads of cash then!

Wasn't there a thing about the govenment wanting to stop funding guided walks somewhere (a national park, from memory) 'cos they weren't attracting their quota of blacks.

Market reseach showed that blacks simply weren't interested - the vast amjority prefered urban pursuits, but IIRC, the funding was still stopped. Duh! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
 
I find this whole area facinating yet not PC.

Is it something in the genes that caused the Greek, Roman, Mongal the European empires. Why do some races "seem" to have less inclination to see whats the other side of that hill/sea.

Why did the arabs develop numbers to the base 10.

Why don't we expect to see a white heavy weight champion of the world.

I am sure there are logical answers but to aviod any hint of discrimination slurs (and to prevent giving opportunity to bigots to abuse others) we avoid any discussion of differences (including male/female). To mention any difference whether it aludes to having better or worse attributes is just not PC. By living in ignorance I believe we help no one and condemn many to live somewhat disadvantaged to their neighbour.
