I say!

Bollockating? Oh jolly good show. Gervaise and Justin just love it. They'll pop up shortly, I'm sure. Should be there in time for tiffin. Do get the Bath Olivers and the Lapsang Souchon ready, there's a good fellow.

Toodle pip, old bean.

Remember the Worcester!

As an oppressed native of Scotland's one sucessful colony, viz, the county of Suffolk, populated from head to foot either with descendants of herring fishermen who came south with the fleet and stopped (East Suffolk) or Perthshire farmers who came south with their ploughs in the 30's (why - Ransomes made perfectly good ploughs!) and took over the farms (West Suffolk) I feel something should be done!

The Master, Mate and Gunner of the perfectly peaceable English merchant ship "Worcester", which made the bad mistake of putting into Leith under stress of weather, a shade over three hundred years ago, were arrested, thown into gaol, tried on a wholly trumped up charge of piracy against the Darien Company ship "Happy Return", and hanged in front of a jeering mob on Leith Sands.

A few weeks later the "Happy Return" did so. Not pirated at all.

The three Englishmen had been judicially murdered in a share support operation on the Edinburgh capital market - the Darien Company was bust, but its Secretary got everyone to believe that its fortunes would have been made by the voyage of the Happy Return, had she not been pirated (which she was'nt).

No wonder we had to sort out this lot!

Re: Jings.

I think my computer's got a virus; when I look at Claymore's posts all I see is a load of random letters which sound like a lot of wheezing and throat clearing if you read them. I think Microsoft call it 'Jockworm'.

;-)
