Obviously everyone off doing saily type things. Strange that we can fit in time during the working week to get online though!

Now I just need someone to buy Roma and I get on and buy a new boat and join you all.

Very quiet! I'm still hobbling about with what turned out to be a pretty nasty groin strain. Being more or less bed ridden for the last two weeks, I am grateful for the YBW forum to keep me from going insane, even though right now I should be 3 weeks into a 5 week sailing holiday. The weekends are usually quiet, whilst the rest are out enjoying themselves. I'm feeling really guilty 'cos I'm quietly pleased that we would have had pretty crap weather for our forcibly cancelled West Country cruise, even though it has no doubt spoiled many others holiday plans too.

Took one look at the weather chart this morning to confirm last nights forecast, and decided that some of those jobs around the house had better be done, so that I can go out when the weather is better (if ever) . Though come to think of it, I had some better sailing back in Feb and march than has been possible so far this month. Was so dispirited by the weather yesterday, that I went and booked my winter haul out /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Yep! Iv'e been very busy cleaning house and studio from top to bottom!!!
Sent swimbo off to Cyprus with her mother, sold the house for full asking price, plastic'y floating, thingy here I come. Cant wait to get on the water. new owners arriving soon to go through inventory, should be moving out in Aug! thats what downsizing is all about and spending kid's inheritance.

We planned to go last night for our 3 week cruise, but we've just had 74 sq m of flat roof replaced and builders won't be finished until Monday. Looks like Tuesday departure earliest for us. Weather has been c**p so not too upset - doing chores around house and enjoying the heavy downpours with no leaks anywhere. I just brought all our accounts up to date which has made me feel good as I've been putting this off for a while.

Popping out for an early pint and to pick up Shrek video which SWMBO insists I watch before seeing Shrek 2. After all, we are on holiday! I will then press the magic button which will show me exactly how much we've spent on the boat over the last 2 years - hence need the pint first.

Sorry to hear about your groin strain - will you be able to salvage a couple of weeks?

Probably not in the original time scale, but as I'm very much part time these days, will be able to get some 2 week trips in before long, though the original 5 weeks would have been great.

We watched Shreck 1 the other evening - very good, and the second version is supposed to be better. Hell, Tom, whats it's coming to, we're talking about flaming cartoons on a sailing forum!!

Well, after 2 crap weekends I was determined to go sailing this weekend.
Load the car up this morning, come to drive away and damn me if the car won't go.
Called the rescue service, wait ages, they can't fix it and don't know what's wrong. They'll come back monday to tow it to a dealer...
It seems I'm doomed.

In my case the tide was right for a 7 am start and 7 pm return, (it is a mud berth)
Weather forecast had a downside in the early afternoon but what the hell I'm a big tough saily person. So off I go single handed light winds out of the Swale into the Thames Estuary, wind now giving me 4 knots with two reefs in main and genoa.
Hot and sunny weather was glorious
Around Red Sand s I turned and headed for Herne Bay then noting the time I thought it best to head back. Tacking against a force three was O K but I needed to go out to the Columbine to clear the shallows.
Despite the forecast and facing the looming dark clouds I still managed to get myself caught unprepared with no oilies and genoa still up. When she came back,up I dropped the genny, the sea was rough and rain was dropping in large dollops.
I admit ,I briefly considered following a fishing boat into Whitstable.
However Miracle was gamely ploughing on back into the Swale. A check on the log told me it was going to be a long run. Then," enlightenment", I dropped the out board into well and motorsailed tacking as necessary actually gaining on a motoring catamaran in front. Finally I raised the keel and dropped the hook on a convenient sandbank to have a break and wait for the tide.
What a country for weather! No wonder people talk of living abroard.
Then again if every trip went to plan what would we talk about.

Your boat is in great shape, but you are crock.

Our boat is cream crackered, but I am fit and have a fair amount of time on my hands due to lack of work at present.

So if you really want to go for a sail on your boat, I would be more than pleased to come along as crew for a day. Just an idea, PM me interested.

Sorry to tell you I have a sunburnt face after a weekend out.

Despite the forecasts, the sky over Solent and area was wonderful Sat, it was only when you headed into any harbour it was overcast (other than the run back from Port Solent to Hamble in the afternoon which was straight in to a F5 Westerly).

Pee'd down with rain overnight, but did an around IoW today with huge sections of nice flat seas, thought with some interesting lumpy stuff to make it interesting! <g>

Still waiting for them to take the head off to do a proper assessment. Don't want to get into details because I'm pretty peed off, and wouldn't want to go down the same debate with the company as a previous poster about his rudder.
