I am about a month behind with preparations this year. I am certainly not alone.
Hope to finish the list this weekend and the yard can get me afloat next week.

I have to say that whenever we’ve been away and we return up the Orwell with its mixture of commercial and leisure, all the history stuff (Harwich, Landguard, the port of Felixstowe, the big houses on the bluffs overlooking the river etc etc) and then sitting on the mooring as the sun drops away behind the bridge and the birds fly to roost, me with a large drink in my fist, I wonder why the hell we went anywhere else.
It’s all about the journey I guess.

There was a time when the Blackwater had the same effect on me but the advance of the internal combustion engine has put paid to that. I do like the Orwell, along with the other rivers. I think of it as the grand old lady of the East.

Stack pack cinched up tight. Sod all wind anyway just above Clamp House, we were just motoring down to SYH to get some fuel.

I see. Lovely day out today in Brightlingsea. Spent some time this morning on a boat for a customer, had a late lunch and now off for sea trials on a trawler. Lovely day for it

Ah but around 15:00 a lovely sea breeze set in around 10 knots I had a love sail as i did this afternoon.

Gladys isn't in yet, but at Mersea yesterday pm, as I finished cabling up the new AP, it was blowing 18kts... (about 1400)

Did Pinmill round to Wrabness sat aft - lovely. Back on Sunday morning and the Orwell had returned to its ‘M25’ state, heaving! Will this weekend just gone be the best of the season? Will certainly take some beating. (No pun intended).

We left Southwold having enjoyed a two winters and a summer season on Saturday.
Very enjoyable shakedown arriving back at RHYC . Occupied our Pin Mill mooring - so sorry Murphy we’re back!
Great to have enjoyed all that Southwold charm and now looking forward to the joys of lots of opportunities for big and small adventures.
Really pleased to be afloat and tweaked ready for the season!
