Only when working on deck or passing from bridge to cabin.

Unless she sees me, then it's all the time. Even in the car going home if she had her way.....

We all do in tidal waters, don't on upper Thames.
The club we are members of (Bray Cruiser Club) stipulates all members must wear lifejackets on tidal trips to encourage the youngsters to follow suit.

Children must wear theirs unless in their cabin or passing to the forecabin. Adults: optional unless going out on deck to do fenders, anchor, lines etc when I do myself and make strong suggestions to others. In the rib everybody and all the time.

Two beers please, my friend is paying.

On motorboat:-
When out at sea on my own - always.
Ditto with others - depends on sea conditions, visibility and prevailing relationship with other crew members.

On yachts:-
Damn things lean over a lot so if the going is lumpy or boat is healing well, then yes whenever I'm out of the cockpit and sometimes when I'm in it. Also, always
at night or in fog.

Try to avoid taking children - nothing to do with safety though!

Good weather, flat seas in sheltered waters, wouldn't bother.

All other times wore one. Made the wife wear one when she's doing deck work. Kids wear one all the time. Son tethered to the cockpit whilst in the lock.

Even when I didn't wear one, it was hung over the seat for emergency use.

ALWAYS show guests where they are, how to put them on and inflate them.

Always - put it on as soon as am on the boat. Likewise with family and friends - because none of them know who may be doing a man over board test!!!!! Well, you have to make sure these things work - don't you!!!

... I want to be back on the water!

My kids yes or any one not familiar with the sea who comes out with me .
