Questions from a newbie Bav32 owner...

Some great advice here, many thanks people!

Fenders, that's good to know. So...if the hidden seacock is closed, anything pumped from the loo accumulates in the tank, which you then can either get pumped out in a marina through the deck fitting, or discharge courteously at sea...right? And do you do that sea discharge by operating the heads handle or is there an electric pump? And if the seacock is just left open during loo operation, the nasty stuff just goes straight to sea...is that right? And you can use it in the usual "open inlet/outlet, do business, flush, close inlet/outlet manner?

Yes, my shower caps have gone all brittle and dusty from UV so I'll speak to Penguin...thanks for the tip.

Sorry for all the daft questions...my old Sabre was a simple boat...one flexible water tank, one charcoal filter, one whale hand pump in the galley, and a very simple loo with all pipework totally visible, and I knew ever inch of that boat! The Bav is a whole different level of complexity systems wise and I just bloody hate not knowing how everything works.

Gratuitous picture time...I've Boracol'd the deck and canvas the day before this pic was taken but that's it. Can't wait to get all the GRP polished, the bottom scrubbed, and the canvas work stitching repaired in a few places and get her gleaming. I know Bavs get a bit of a bashing but I think she'll be perfect for me. Apart from that daft mainsheet system well out of reach (albeit also highly unlikely to damage a toddler I guess...)

You are correct. If the sea cock is open then the waste from the heads is discharged into the sea via the tank. If sea cock is closed then the waste is held in the tank. There isn’t an electric pump. Just gravity.

Lovely looking boat. Hope you enjoy her.
