QL Trim Tab pump unit

My Trim Tab pump unit is playing up. One of the solenoid valves is not powering, but the power to tell it to open it is getting to the connection.

As a result the affected tab is staying down.

I have removed the pump unit, but it appears to be sealed inside its tank.

Has anyone opened up one of these for repair ?

It is a Volvo Penta QL unit part number 41 100 319 ...


Item 1 in the photos contains all the pump and solenoids within.

Got the pump housing to bits. Rather interesting (and now broken) retaining ring clips for the hydraulic pipes, but that's easy to fix. Once the pipes were off the retaining bracket came off easily to reveal a central joint, which split easily to reveal the pump and solenoid cluster.

It became immediately obvious that the stbd coil had burnt out.

New solenoid coils and connector fittings for the hydraulic tubes now on order from Ebay.
