QHM Portsmouth - Boat registration

Just seen this in a communication from a sailing club...

"The QHM is introducing a new requirement to register boats within the harbour. Where members of sailing clubs have their boats on club moorings the club will be required to issue an annual sticker for each member to attach to their boat to identify the boat as belonging to a member of a particular club. We do not envisage that this will apply to dinghies."

Does anyone know any more? Can't find anything on the interweb.

What about those of us keeping boats at commercial marinas and boatyards. Are we to be issued/buy similar ID labels to show Portsmouth is our home port?

Or is this the start of the slippery slope that will become labels to show we've paid harbour dues for the year (bear in mind that Portsmouth doesn't have harbour dues for small boats. Yet.)

Maybe if is in case the yacht comes adrift from its mooring then they would know who to notify/return it to.

My Hardway Sailing Club mooring permit has had all the information they want on it for years. The change, if there is one, will be for people with commercial moorings

As per Poole - This year it's £7.16 / mtr +VAT (£85.92 for a 10mtr boat)

Mine said 2019 so I removed it and threw it away. Presumably, they'll send out new ones if it's deemed worthwhile. Still not sure how they can justify the cost...
