was talking to ken thew HM the other day about speeding in and around pwllheli and he pointed to the chart in his office where there is an area approx a 1/2 a mile off gimlet rock extending from about a mile west to and including the harbour where the speeding byelaws apply, when the byelaw was passed this area was included, so any vessel coming in from church bay or abersoch on the plane in that area as is usual on a sunday trying to under take slower vessels into the harbour is breaking the speeding laws

Damn, I don't think I can get there anytime soon...if I can, I'd love to come and speed within the restricted limits as I do everywhere else!

If you hang a big white sheet over the side with ''here I am Mobo's, come and get me' written on it, it would make our life a lot easier, otherwise we are going to have to buzz all the raggies, which isn't fair on us, as petrol costs a lot of money

JUST JOKING!!

apparently not marked, except on the definitive chart when the law was drafted, next time youre in pwllheli go to kens office and have a look on the chart

Same around most of E Solent. 10knts within half mile of shore. Not on charts, so most don't know about it.

If the authorities want people to adhere to these limits, they need to publicise and enforce. The publicising bit being the most important part - 95% would adhere if they only knew the regulations

Does this only inlude MOBO's. It is not unknown for the odd raggie to find 10kts. Although generally speaking when it does happen the MOBO's will be tied up on the pontoons.

Just wondering?

I know someone who got nicked outside Portsmouth harbour for speeding. He was hand summonsed(sp?) by 2 MOD police who had travelled up from P mouth to Reading twice (he wasn't home 1st time)
Max penalty is £2000 fine and / or up to 6months porridge.
