The switch to Tigger's shower pump has finally given up the ghost. A good innings, at 23 years.

The original one looked like this:

Does anyone know what these are called, and where we might find a replacement?

Push to Make .. Push to Lock .. Momentary .. depends on the action when pressed.

Have a scroll through this - may give you ideas ..

I have a Push to Make Momentary as starter button for my engine .. nothing overly special - but has a rubber cover to keep it dry etc.

RichardS beat me to it !! While I was editing my post ...

Or use a switch to operate a 12 volt relay. which in turn operates the pump. Apart from corrosion, lots of switches fail due to arcing ' burning of the contacts due to the inductive load of the motor.

When my momentary shower sump pump failed I replaced with a non momentary action switch that has a built in led indicator when on. This means the sump is emptying whilst the user is towelling.
