Purchase Advice 3 cabin 50ft plus Motorboat

Hi to you all.
We are in the hunt for a new family cruiser. 7 People onboard and 2cats? for a period of 3weeks at a time.
Budget: 250-300
3cabins.
Hard or softtop.
50-60 feet.
We are looking at
Portofino 53
Targa 52
Princess V53
Princess V 58
Others?
It has to be Volvos.

Pros and cons. And resale value.
We will be cruising Skandinavian waters.
Fly boat is not an option.

Whats your choice and why

Welcome to this forum. There are some Scandinavians on the forum, and they will have a much better understanding of your potential cruising areas, what sells well etc.
You appear to have dismissed a flybridge? Unless bridge height is a particular challenge, my preference for a family will always be a flybridge as it gives you additional options, and family members their own space.
I like Italian boats, but there is unlikely to be many in your area, but don’t dismiss Fairline or Princess boats. They both make fantastic boats in the 50ft plus range. Have a look at the Fairline Squadron 58. Should just be in your pricerange. Super boat with 3 good cabins and a small crew cabin. You will find virtual Tours on You Tube from Boats UK and Aquaholic covering this and other similar boats.

We just like the possibilty to "cab" down and be underway with the sun over us.
Fly boats tends to be chillion the fly in scandinavia so then you end up inside when you are underway. We also like the saloon downstairs for the Kids and good outerspace for the grownups.

The Porto 53 for its moveable hard top , large lower saloon and decent sized bathing platform differentiates it from the others .
Plus it a big boat nearer 60 ft .Comes with Volvos D12 s which understandably are always gonna be a Scando preference.
Windy do a similar size 58 but not sure its fits the price range criteria you have set .Guess that’s why you left it out ?

The build quality and thus desirability which links to the residuals imho is a step above with the Sunseekers of the Portofino range era .

He has given his preference list which is pretty clear to me always happy to be corrected though . :unsure:clue might be “ two cats “
Thinking extra stairs and the inability to eye ball everywhere on one level outside the cabins ?

The portofino is one of top 3 beacuse of the buildt quality and the fact that it is easy boat moving around in, iam little more uncertain abot the roof. If the opening is big enough.
I did not mention that i have my one little marine firm, so I have been mutch around in different boats. And do everything to the boat my self.
Thats also why i need others perspective..
I think it is a hard choice ..

Personally if you are going to spend this amount of money then i think worth exploring all options. Totally get what the OP is saying but worth looking so as not to regret it later. The Squadron 58 is an awesome boat that would work really well and the advantage of a fly is the massive extra space it gives you, especially if on the boat for three weeks at a time. That said i get the climate issue but I would also bet that sitting on a fly in the Scandinavian summer is close to unbeatable :). Note that the 58 has an internal staircase as well, which is uncommon on the new boats now. This has some real advantages especially for children and cats :)
 
A bit bigger and at the top end of your price range the Squadron 62 also looks like a nice boat, there are a few on the market at the moment from €250k to about €400k, the €400k one being in Helsinki

3 cabins, 2 doubles and a twin usually with a twin crew cabin in the stern, and an internal stair, the older ones have a galley up, while the newer ones have the galley down.
Until I seen the Squadron 62 the Targa52 was what I would go for

Edit: Scrub that, it has MAN V10 diseasels and not the preferred Volvo.
