Akchuly its a sewn ensign I'll have you know. Look closer.
and I only have the one mast to hang a flag or tea towel from. No bits of rope or wooden thingies with lights on. Even had to make that mast meself.I must admit i'm a little disappointed at the restrained response, perhaps this morning with a few hungover heads will do the trick.
Of course, after the pic was taken I wound her up to 7 knots and the wash broke the bow off a Bavaria sailboat. Whoops. His fault, he was under sail and refused to give way.

Its the River Ouse about 2.5 miles downstream of York. That's the A64 crossing close to Bishopthorpe.
As fer the flagpole, thanks. Its called Bert. Made it meself cos bits of wood just would not look right on my boat and I happened to have a large ski pole bracket doing nothing on the stern.
Was going to make up a matching Jackstaff on the pulpit rail for the forum burgee, but it would have made me boat look like a kids toy boat and me look like I gave a stuff about flag ettiquette.
I leave that to pipe smoking Benateau owners with anchors on their caps

It might be polyester.
It may or may not have the union flag upside down.
It might still have the creases in, but that's because it comes down after 8pm.
But whatever it is, it is sewn.
I feel a deja vu moment Sailerman
Perhaps at such a solemn moment as dipping and stowing the ensign at sunset or 8pm, I should play some suitable music.
How does God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols sound?
Actually it may be easier to dip and stow if I put the forum burgee at the top of the pole and the ensign at the bottom.
This way, the ensign would not keep covering up the burgee either.

I try to butt into as many bunting etiket post as I can, but even I can see that while your edges are indeed sewn, the union jack bit is printed onto the fabric.
Way to go.
Hope you leave it up overnight.

Bleedin norah Major, not you too. Look at the pic, the corner of the white bit on the union flag is stood proud of the material.
Perhaps if I hung it upside down, would that be an improvement? The union flag would at least be the right side up. I can't tell if its upside down or not, even when drunk.
As for leaving it up overnight, I heard that yotties steal them right off the mobo's staff during their after dark perambulations and cotton ensigns were a sure target as they are too mean to pay for one of the quality ones themselves.
Which is why I settled for Polyester, with sewn on union flag parts; so I can hold my head up in polite company, but present less of a target for nefarious nocturnal sailors.
Despite this, I discovered one raggie from york sailng club around 11:30 one night stinking of buckfast wine and running his calloused hands over me flag and chuckling lavisciously, so I take it down around 8pm now.
