Proper flag etiquette.

What's the point of paying the extra for a sewn ensign if peeps can't tell the difference even when that close to it?

(Yes the flagstaff was a broomstick in a previous life :))

I say! One really doesn't know what all the fuss is about. After all, it is merely a plain, undefaced, red one; as flown by the lower orders. ;-)

My dear fellow, better a plain red than a defaced blue! Oh the horror of false superiority.

One must fly a plain blue ensign before you can properly look down ones nose at the proles endeavouring to imitate yachting.

White though is taking things too far, who would ever want their yacht commandeered by the Navy at their slightest whim?

Absolutely, old boy. Naturally, one's blue should be undefaced. However if one must fly a red, then better a defaced red than a defacd blue, What! The white, of course, speaks of the vulgarity of money and is somewhat pretentious don't you know. It is properly flown by those who made their wealth in 'trade'.

Thank you for that, you are clearly an expert as just about everything you said is wrong.

Absolutely old boy! In fact one might go so far as to the say that EVERYTHING I said is wrong; but really no need to thank me! Just a bit of jolly banter betwixt Woodlouse and meself, don'cha know.

Oi! this is my get everything wrong thread, get yer own. :D

By the way, Hmmm Lizzy B. I saw a sailboat of that name on the east coast. It had a pair of extra baggy, tired white bloomers with complete with large pink spots hanging off the ensign staff.

Thought it a bit strange, then realised that's why you're all called raggies.

Was that you old bean?

No, but quite possibly my brother, The Admiral, as we who respect East Coast sailors know him. I am merely known as 'The Commodore'. It sounds like he was wearing Lady Henrietta's personal standard in his hoist.

Here is my baby. Note the impeccable bunting etiquette.
