How may I best clean a 'brass' propellor. I need serious advice only.

Spread on a liberal coating of "Viakal" with a stiff brush, leave for 5-10 minutes, scrape off depsoits with a rigid plastic or blunt metal scraper. Repeat as necessary.

\'Serious Advice\' from Scuttlebutt???

An oxymoron, methinks. You need somewhere worthy and right-thinking, John, can I suggest PBO Reader to Reader forum?

I power wirebrush mine, gently, and finish by hand-polishing with fine emery paper. It leaves a nice finish, and will show up any areas that are dezincing or corroding.

Hi!

Yep! Agree with you Andrew. I don't use a power wire brush but just 800 grade wet and dry. This produces a very smooth finish that I complete using some good old fashioned Brasso to give a real gleam. Definitely get no fouling at all on the prop during the season with all that 'fresh' metal exposed, but do get a couple of tiny barnacles on the prop nut! Still working on an answer to that one!

Good sailing!
