We have a 3 blade classic maxprop fitted to our Oyster 406 (12.2m LOA, around 12 tons and with a 48HP Perkins engine) with a diameter of 18" and a pitch of 12.4" (equates 20 degrees). It looks likely that I will have to have the maxprop overhauled, which will obviously take some time. I have a spare fixed propellor, 2 bladed, that is 18" diameter and 14" pitch. Will the 2 blade fixed prop be an adequate temporary substitute for the maxprop, and what differences might I see?

Don't think you will notice much difference in normal use. Typically a 2 blade will have 1" either diameter or pitch more than a 3 blade. You will of course suffer a bit under sail, but again not much and struggle more in adverse conditions.

I doubt it will be a problem, unless the maxprop is on the edge of being the right prop in the first place.
If the fixed prop has adequate blade area, you will notice the drag sailing though!
