My stainless steel propeller on my Honda outboard has some minor damage on two of the blades leading edges, which I'd like to get repaired.

Having looked on the web, I've found Hamble Propellers and Steel Developments but, as I've no experience of either, can anyone give their recommendations, or suggest other repair companies?

I'm based near Southampton.

Many thanks!

Steel developments do not do duo props .

I found out after I sent mine there to have some repairs, Before they got hold of them boat was doing 47 knots, They came back went on boat and only 43 knots. They blamed everything but their work, They also were not cheap.

I have had someone else look at them and none of the blades matched in Pitch ETC, I had a mould taken of the best blade and all the others were matched to this one.

Spoke to previous owner of my boat and he confirmed that it took Steel developments 4 attempts to sort them for him,

I will back you up on this one.
A client of mine sent 2 DPH props to them for re bushing , they took ages to reply saying that the props were over bored and the new bushes were loose in the props so the props were scrap.
He asked them to post back the props , they said they could not do that as they had gone for scrap, straight away I smelt a rat, as the client of mine lived nearly he called in person, I’m not sure what the actual outcome was as they tried to charge him for the work.

Tread very carefully .

Mine is just a normal outboard single prop so, hopefully, there wouldn't be any problem for SD to repair this type.

I have also had a recent bad experience with Steel Developments. Having had good service from them 3 or 4 seasons ago. This time last year they told me 4 props I had sent them were unrepairable and tried to sell me expensive replacements. They got very rude when I queried it as they had repaired props of mine in far worst condition previously. When I eventually got them back I sent them to Castle Marine and they repaired them quicky with no problems and the props are working well 12 months on. Caveat Emptor!

I've used Hamble Props twice now, for repairs to props and also to supply new propshafts and have no problem with their work at all, so would happily recommend them.

I’ve had need to use Hamble Props on a couple of occasions and I have found them to be swift, fairly priced and they have done a super job on all occasions.

No connection or commercial interest.

Can you tell me who you end up using as I have to get some work done too.

I've just collected my propeller from Hamble Propellers, and they have done an excellent job repairing the blades and balancing the prop, at a very reasonable cost, and in 4 working days turnaround.
