Prop size

Hi guys and girls after some help. I have had a pretty crap summer with my boat, I had to have major work done on my outdrive at the start of the season which took forever to get repaired and made me 4k lighter ?? anyway today I have managed to damage my prop and now have a big chunk missing from one of the blades. I need to source a new one I would like to get the same one, however I do not know what size and pitch I have etc. How do I find out what size it is ? Should it be on the existing prop ? Where would I get one ? Also is it an easy thing to do yourself ? Any help would be appreciated. I believe my outdrive is a bravo 3.

Is it a stainless dual prop? If its a bravo 3 it will be. and the pitch is the last two numbers of the no stamped on thd hub very clearly on a bravo 3. Only the pitch is relavant as you dont get different diameters. Pitch will be 20, 22,24,26,28 or 30. 22-26 being most popular.
If its single then it aint bravo3.
Most props can be repaired by one of the prop specialists , streamline propellers, steel developments, castle marine are all worth a try

Why don’t you try getting the prop repaired? I have used Steel Developments in London, and there are alternatives. It’s amazing what they can repair.

Ok proves how much I know then ??? it's not a duel prop? so maybe it's a bravo 2 then. It's quite big chunk missing maybe about an 10% to 15 % of the end. Is this something that can be repaired ?

Wow just been on their website unless I am reading this wrong repairs start from £36 which if true is a bargain and the picture they have is less damage than I have thanks

Ok thanks mine is being driven by a 240hp yanmar diesel. So a bravo 1? How do I get confirmation of this ?

Plenty boats have bravo two drives fitted there certainly not rare a 240 yanmar is highly likely to be b2
Bravo 1 prop hub is about 4 3/4" diameter while bravo2 is about 5 3/4" diameter
Bravo 1 props tend to be around 14 1/2" blade diameter while bravo two are around 18 1/2"
Bravo two also have a straight section to the skeg from the bottom of the hub while a bravo 1 skeg taper back towards the prop at an angle from the bottom of the hub

Bravo 1 props are cheap at just over £100 bravo 2 are closer to 400 ish not checked prices for a while but in those regions. It may make the difference between a repair/ replace decision

Well, I never came across a B2 on a pleasure boat (including diesel powered ones), and the application I mentioned before is the one that Merc recommends.
But I take your word for that, no worries!

Thanks guys yes mine is a bravo 2 has I now have pictures of it. Next thing will be to get it off as I will send it away and hopefully they can repair it. Is removal a difficult job?

Removal is pretty easy lift the lock tab from the slot its pushed back into with a screwdriver and undo the big nut right hand thread pull the prop towards you note where the washers go.
If its tight jam a block of wood between av plate above and let one of the blades react against it to keep the prop still, it wont harm the blades.
If yours has an anode over the centre nut remove that first may be an alen key or 1/2" af
Note all the fittings are imperial af sizes

Sad to say that Bravo 3 props do come in different diameters. Mercury Bravo Three
