Have just adjusted the position of my prop shaft in the coupling, does anyone know to what torque I should tighten the Nylock nuts.

Thanks, my old torque wrench is in ft lbs, I think a rough conversion NMEA to ft lbs is divide Nm by 1.3.

That chart is headed "all metal" nuts, nylon might be different.

Nyloc nuts are metal (steel or stainless steel) with a nylon insert so the tightening torque will be the same.

Won't it need a bit more torque to overcome the effect of the nyloc part?

Yes, I know nyloc nuts are metal. I think the table referred to was for all-metal nuts, i.e. with a metal locking element. These might have a different torque to nyloc.

Marginal. The main thing that affects the tightening torque are the materials (nut and bolt) and any lubrication.
The additional tightening torque can be measured when tightening the nut onto the thread before the nut starts to clamp up tight.
I did some design work some years ago on pre tensioned structured and had to calculated the tightening torque to tension the structure to the required tension/compression requirements.
