I'm putting a 6" polishing mop - or a 150mm one if that's what comes - onto my pristine small bench grinder, as I have a bronze prop to polish from a matt finish. It seems the relevant 'dressing' compounds are described by colour.

What colour(s) do I want and how best do I use them, please?

You could use brasso, but the wheel will spray and the droplets will really irritate your throat. Jeweller's rouge is probably fine. Don't overload the mop with the compound and enjoy the job. Polishing is very satisfying!

I use brown polishing soap on all brass and metal work in my workshop. I also have white which is rarely used on ivory, too fine for brass.
Keep polishing mop loaded and press item into it. Certainly shines brass to a mirror finish. It will leave a slight waxy residue which you may want to clean off with a spirit or Brasso.
I am going to try this out on my saildrive prop when I get round to changing the anode.
