Any ideas on the best way to finish props before they go back into the dirth dephs for another season. I've just spent ages using most of Mr Internationals products hoping to get some kind of lasting finish on them. 1. etch primer 2. two coats of Primocon, 3. three coats of Trilux antifoul, thats about 5 days of work and curing times!!

I know of one guy in the berth next to me that says he uses epoxy spread on to warm props mixed with enamel for pigment and swears by it......lasts fr ages, he says. Ideas anyone as my boats going back in next week after a short stay ashore.

Cheers

Re: Give us a clue

No antifoul is going to stay on those props for very long, at the speed they turn, leave them alone and make sure your anodes are in good condition, or rub down, aluminium self etchimg primer and a couple of coats of hard expoxy gloss paint, bung them in the SWMBO's oven (after about three hours drying) and bake at 70 deg DO NOT GO OVER 70! for a couple of hours, turn off oven allow to cool in oven until cold allow another day, refit and away you go! The paint will probably last about two weeks! any colour, but red is nice, then you can see when they fall off!

Firstly I get them reconditioned and then rub em down and coat them with International's Veridan coating. It is basically a very slippery coating, it is not antifouling but when marine life attaches, they come off with just a wipe with a cloth or when the props are spinning. Seems to last the year.
