A PUB giving free drinks to customers every time a goal is scored against England has been accused of dividing nations. The Strand, near Swansea's city centre, is handing out a free shot of spirits to drinkers every time a player scores against Sven Goran Eriksson's side.
Around 50 free drinks were handed out at the Strand when Sweden scored their equaliser against the English last Saturday.
And landlady Julie Jones says the same offer is on for this Friday's England versus Argentina match.
Former Racial Equality Commissioner for Wales Ray Singh, now chairing a CRE investigation into the prison service, has criticised the free drinks offer.
He said, "We should be joining together and extending a friendly hand to support England and help them win the World Cup. Friendly banter is one thing but to encourage people not to support England is wrong.
"It brings about divisions between the Welsh and the English."
But Ms Jones said yesterday the free drinks offer would still be on for tomorrow's big match. "We give the free drinks to our English customers as well as the Welsh.
"There are a lot of English who drink at The Strand, many are working on shops or on developments in the city centre.
"They see it as a bit of fun not racism or anti-Englishness. In the pub we all have a laugh about it."

Hmmm. What do you make of that?
