Project Kraken

Im a member of this project by Hampshire police and receive regular emails about stolen boats etc.

Today I got my email which had quite a laugh at, reason is it included over 40 plus other peoples emails addresses, I thought what has happened to data protection especially from the police!, I was going to email them back to tell them, well a certain officer of his mistake.

Shortly after I recieved another from him with an apology, and asking me to immediately delete the previous email with all the copied addresses in its contents.

I can see how companies make money from other companies sending out **** emails of offers etc. I then thought as all of the reciepients must be boaters there could be 40 odd plus new customers for me!,

Aside from the email slip up, Kraken does seem worthwhile, I understand they are having some success.

Been boarded on the Humber as part of it, so I was told.

Just asked for a few details and if we'd seen anything suspicious.

The officiers were friendly enough, didn't search the boat or anything, gave us a leaflet about Project Kraken and off they went.
