Does anyone know how to strip the halyard swivel on a Profurl Basic B29 furler?
?
The furling drum was relatively easy, the seals popped out one the circlips yielded to good circlip pliers. and spares are available..

it is not obvious how to get into the top swivel And I do not wish to damage it.
The swivel is sluggish and it is probably time to renew the 20 year grease.

MY Profurl manual (for Classic/ Elite) shows exploded diagrams of components in a variety of models, NC32,LC32, to L52 etc. other than removing the shackle and the halyard tang from the top swivel there is no implication of anything there that can be serviced or of a bearing that might be replaceable. I am not saying it can not be done but It seems profurl are not intending that it should.

Yes I agree that information on dismantling for repair is hard to come by. However I am about to replace the bearings and seals in the furling drum for the second time, with the official kit of parts.
A kit is available, at a price, for the halyard swivel parts but how to get into it without spoiling the casing Is the problem. It would be good to do it at the same time as the main drum.
I first refurbished the drum, cheaply, with parts from the local bearing shop 5 years ago but the bearing now needs to be replaced as it is showing slight signs of rust.0

I made a note of thread 7 in following link a few years ago in case I needed to remove my bearings hope it is useful LINK in next thread
