Problems with a origo 3000 cooker

I have just refilled my origo 3000, which i have done many times before without problems, but upon lighting it i get a very big orange flame, which creates a lot of black carbon deposits. I have tried keeping it alight in an open space in case i overfilled but this still does not alleviate the problem-i now have the burners open but unlit to try to evaporate the meths from the 'landmines'-has anyone experienced this before and got a solution to solving the problem

Ive not had that before but would it not be quicker to burn off the meths outside the boat?

My first thought is that the wrong fuel had been used.

Could it be parafin that's got in by mistake?

Sounds like a fuel problem.

What does it smell like?

Orange flame means not enough oxygen, whether this is due to a different fuel type or the cooker burners is the question.
