I hope that someone might have come across this problem before and be able to point me in the right direction for a solution

I have lost the wind speed data from the ST60 instument on the pedestal.

Am I right in thinking that I have a problem with the transducer at the masthead?

Can this item be replaced?

Hope someone can help

Thanks in advance

Give Raymarine a call. They will say that if your w.speed display shows 3 '000's then a connection problem, i.e. loose/ broken wire. If however the display shows thre '---' then that means no telemetry and if you haven't interfered with the connections then you will need to send the masthead transducer back to be check3d/replaced.

That was the situation with mine a couple of years back and now the blasted thing keeps dropping wind speed input ( three '000's but wind direction showing OK) so I'm living with it- I can't face another couple of hundred quid

Check all the connections, even those you haven't touched for years before you do anything else.

We got as far as sending the instrument back (no problem found) and were on the point of shinning up the mast to replace the vane etc. Before doing that, we checked and cleaned all the connections which couldn't possibly be the problem, because we hadn't touched them - sure enough, that did it.

Raymarine were very helpful, though.

As others have said, it's likely to be a connection somewhere that's caused the problem.
And yes, the windspeed 'transducer' at the masthead can be replaced if needs be, not cheap though (as you'd expect) - I was quoted about £45 a while back IIRC altho I didn't need one in the end.
Straightforward job with a soldering iron to change it.
