At last we have a diagnosis on why my Volvo KAD43's were impossible to get into gear- apparently the shift cables had siezed as suspected- and in my desperation to get it working and avoid being blown into the boat opposite, - I broke summat in the selector/ throttle housing too. So no boating for me this weekend AGAIN!

May be back in the water next week...

No, not yet- Maybe when the new ones are fitted I'll be advised to... But at the moment still waiting for the delivery. Should be a stage coach or mail wagon heading out to lhe long forgotten east coast soon!

thanks for the update - presume you managed to bust something in the selector before you tried the engines individually; big coincidence if they both seized at the same time.

Yeah- that's why i'm a bit suspicious / curious. Both seemed to have siezed at the same time. Tried both separately first- stuck solid, then when panick getting to a peak, i forced starbd lever forward, and it suddenly 'gave'- (and revved like mad as I might expect- dam good it didnt get into gear in a way or I'd have hit the wall...)
