Princess V52

Hi yes I know the Singapore humidity very well indeed - you will need the extending awning for the shade or if you get caught in one of those magnificent downpours when at anchor.

Yep - will def need to have the rear sun awnings !! Weather here also pours between nov-feb!

Just curious why would one expect some stick from installing the Lumishore lights ? :D

As has already been said it’s definitely not aimed at Lumishore but at underwater lights in general.... let’s not start on the subject of neo boat names :o) … Some people think bling and all that…

I’ve PM’d you Eifrion Evans email address, he is the commercial director and a very helpful chap.

I'm also actively looking for a similar boat and visit boat show two weeks ago. I have narrow the choice down to the newer Fairline Targa 50 or 58 Gran Turismo or the Sunseeker Predator 52. Someone told me to stay away from the Princess due to the continue changes of dealers in Singapore so service support would be a concern.

Did you snag a great deal during the boat show?

Hi - yes was at the boat show a couple of weeks ago. Funny that i had the same boats in mind before finally deciding to go with the v52 with the exception of a riviera 5000. I decided to cross out the sun seeker due to the local support and that it was a old model with old technology. The dealer is in hk and the local support hasnt been too great IMHO.

For fair line yes both are v good new boats especially the cantilever transom but I preferred the look of the v52 , the full master cabin, and the more practical layout of the upper and lower saloon. The auto windows are a great feature but I don't like th shape of it and the reclining seat on the upper saloon.

Yep princess has changed dealers a few times in sing but I didn't get my boat from princess Asia Singapore... Pm me if u want to discuss on what I did :D

Hahaha yes I have I have the lights on the boat name too :D thks for the info!

Thanks Jonny... will definitely also look at the anchor... my dealer advised me against Garmin as they said that the std autopilot and instrument readouts ST60 are all raymarine so choosing a Garmin may affect the network connections....

I have the standard ST60 Raymarine instuments as well as they seem to be a built-in feature. FWIW I've had no network issues. The only issue (I think) is that the Garmin GPS won't "drive" the Raymarine autopilot. Assuming that is indeed the case (and not my incompetence) then that would be an issue if you particularly wanted that feature.

Just to add to my earlier comment however if u do choose the fair line targa 50 or 58 you will be very well service by the dealer Eric. He is a v good guy u can depend on which is crucial in boating as we know.. I was close to buying a squadron 42 but I needed a bigger boat so was also contemplating the new squadron 50 / targa 50 / princess v52. It was a v difficult choice as Eric (sgboating) provides very good service and the new targas are excellent products but I ended up with the v52 mainly due to the lower saloon, upper saloon config, shape and full beam master cabin....

Good luck in your choice of boat!!! It's a very enjoyable process :o

Thks - I think it's the dealers looking for the easy way out:D

Most people who buy a jetrib regret it after a season or two.
Bit unreliable but great fun for a while.
Conventional dinghy/outboard is far more practical.
We have a Walker Bay and 40hp Yamaha like the one JFM posted
Ours was one of the first and is still as good as the day we bought it.

Assuming you are buying in the UK - your dealer will probably be PMYS.
We bought from the guys at Swanwick and their support has been great - second to none.
Always friendly and happy to help.
Just recently, I wanted details of my fuel tanks and full drawings were on the email to me within a few hours.

IMO, you cant go wrong with Raymarine.
I've not used Garmin but we have a big Raymarine installation which I am very pleased with.
Having had our system (a G series with wireless keyboards) I would think twice about "touch screens" - imagine bouncing along in the open sea and trying to touch a particular button - I'm sure you've hit the wrong button before and actually meant a different one. That doesnt happen with our wireless buttons/keyboards - you simply hold the whole thing in your lap and pressing buttons is easy.
I wouldnt change this for any other method - and remember that touch screens are usually not as bright. I would definately prefer a brighter display to touch screens.
JFM's installation is very different - much bigger boat and with his stabs the boat doesnt move around anything like as much.

Just a few thoughts
Have fun - and welcome to Princess

Princess had representation in Australia, firstly, very poorly, through Euroyachts and then by RMarine (Riviera), a lot better to deal with, but got very shakey during the GFC.
Princess is now standing on their own, to keep clear of cross dealer contamination, I would imagine.
Fairline (15 years) and Sunseeker (10?) have had steady, stand alone representation, which for local buyers is important.
Dealing with a certain UK based manufacturer in previous years from this country was utterly frustrating.

Thanks Hurricane...

The cost of the williams is exhorbitant here in Singapore .. approx GBP16k for a 285 and GBP18k for a 325. Unfortunately there isnt a dealer for walker bay here but i managed to get the ex-dealer to try and bring in a 310 console folding transom deluxe genesis - thats a mouthful!! Avon doesnt seem to build steering consoles for the 315 anymore based on the dealer feedback here.

I think I may go with the Raymarine C140w so that the autopilot can link to the chartplotter etc.. and minimise any issues between the instruments / chartplotters.

U have my dream Princess 64 ! Wonderful and amazing boat!

U have my dream Princess 64 ! Wonderful and amazing boat!

Actually she's a 67
We "checked out" the 64 at the last Southampton Boat Show and agreed that if we were buying again, the 64 would probably have been the one but.....
No internal stairs - a big thing for us.
So the 67 still beats others in that class.
The foredeck on the 67 is also more like a bigger boat as well the gunwhales (if thats what you call them) form a more "grown up" look about them.
These and other things still make the 67 a better boat - IMO

On our recent travels, I came across a guy who looked at our boat and said that he was once thinking of buying a P67 but eventually settled on a Manhattan because of the size and access of the crews quarters - Crew!! "I said" - he looked a little confused "who sails the boat then?" he said!!!
He was completely gobsmacked when I replied that mostly it was just "the wife and I"
