Hi all
5 years after selling my Targa 34 I'm getting the boat bug again, been looking around for a while and the plan was to wait another year or so and buy a 2003 Targa 40 or a much newer Beneteau 38 GT, however....... Today I've been made aware of this 1997 Princess V40 which has had a substantial amount of work done to it. Apparently one engine has been rebuilt and one completely overhauled, it's got new nav gear, new hearing fitted, new upholstery in cockpit and a lot more.
I'm quite paranoid over old boats and engines but this seems a lot of boat for around £80k and I wondered if anyone had any advice or maybe is aware of this boat and its history? Are KAD 42's ok for a 40 footer as less powerful than I had in my Targa 34? TBH not that fussed about top speed as have two very young sons these days so 20 knot amble around will be the order of the day.

What would be the safest way to proceed, get a marine engineer down ASAP to check everything over and then a surveyor and can I make an offer subject to this all being satisfactory?
Hoping someone can help, seems a long time ago I was on here when I was buying my Targa 34 but got some great advice then which was really beneficial.
Thanks in advance.
