Princess used boat warranty scheme

That's it, use Volvo Fred everyone. Damn fine mechanic and so much better looking than the other bloke on here :)

I can't believe you would even think to look at anyone else's Porsches. ;)

Henry, trust me please I didn't , it was just a Facebook advert which I commented on something like " I want that car but your not a 911 virgin salesman"

Ah well that's ok then.

That Fred bloke is rubbish anyway ;)

Keep smiling.

Anyway, back to the original subject, can we assume that since no one has popped their head up pulling the details of the Princess guarantee to bits, that it is actually pretty good ? Obviously it is in addition to the good service the likes of Henry etc have had, but peace of mind for many I would think.

Having read this thread, and being someone unlikely ever to buy a Princess, or any other mainline brand, it strikes me that the PMYS chap shot himself in the foot by firstly criticising an over enthusiastic new employee, and, more importantly, almost certainly not reading the thread in its entirety and therefore missing the very obvious and simple opportunity to answer the question over whether the warranty travels to the boats location. His post told us nothing, and I really can't see why he bothered to post at all. Seems a little counter productive.

It really does seem that the marine business is full of non businessmen. I'm not sure why this industry seems to attract them in such numbers, with one or two notable exceptions who really shine through.

Just looked @ the check list and imho it is a very good checklist to use for cross checking when you are looking to buy either a second hand or a new boat when undertaking your own boat survey to ensure you have no big surprises post sale :encouragement:

For me the issue was not whether the written warranty was comprehensive enough or not, it was really about the motivation of the supplier, is to provide a level service (as per the warranty document) that minimises the cost to the warrantor, or giving the buyer a service that is irrespective of cost (because they want return business).

I am not implying in any way that PMYS or Fairline are motivated in any particular direction, however it appears that the PMYS warranty is insurance backed (have not seen anything to the contrary), therefore I can assume I would be dealing ultimately with an insurer (who is not interested in future business, usually only interested in their own bottom line). I note that the PMYS warranty is initially directed though themselves, the question in my mind, would I end up dealing with an insurance company or PMYS/Princess? Frankly I would prefer to deal with the manufacturer/seller because their motivation is completely different to that of an insurance company!

As I have previously posted, members experiences are really helpful, as it gives some background on which to make a decision.

I think you will find all used boat warranty schemes have an element of insurance backing. In the case of Princess I am happy they would not compromise their enviable and hard earned reputation. The fact contact is initially through Princess is significant, particularly as the point of contact is exactly the same as that used by people buying new boats.

Henry:)

Hi, welcome to the forum. I've read through your other posts and the grammar is similar. I am not attempting to appear rude but out of interest can I ask if you're using Google Translate or something of that nature when posting on the forum?
