A bit of help please?
What's the function of this switch and how does it work?
As far as I can tell the indicator lights are on or off depending on the position of the switch (3 pos'n) but the position seems to have no other effect??
Handbook is useless on this point.
The reverse polarity switch changes the incoming mains power wiring.
Normally the neutral is connected to the earth at the supply substation so the live will have 230VAC between the live and negative and earth.
If the polarity light i on this connection is wrong and has the potential to be dangerous. The switch will change in polarity of the incoming mains power making it safe.
Reverse polarity is due to incorrect wiring of the shore power connection on the marial jetty,
If you plug into a new/different marina power supply and the polarity light comes on just change the switch until the polarity light is off.
Neither of the 2 Princess' I've owned (c2003 and c2008) had that switch but both had a light indicating if the shore power polarity was correct or not. In the Med (SOF and Italy) a number of locations had the power wired up the opposite way (ie. reversed neutral I think).
Turns out the boat came with 2 sets of shore power cables. One wired one way and one wired the other. I ended up using the ones that gave the correct indications on the panel. As I said this was different in different marina's.
I guess your boat solves the problem with that switch (handy) although I'm not sure what the middle position is; maybe off?
Confused??
Roger indicates (see what I did there?) that the polarity light should be off
J123... indicates that it should be on.
Hurri's drawing indicates 'up for shore power (there is no second line) centre for off and down for generator....seems like this might be the correct option with the genny fitted later via a second panel. So 'up' it is (so long as the 'polarity correct' indicator is lit.
