Princess p45 jetski stand

Actually, I can't take the credit for that design.
It was a team effort from members of this forum.

You might fancy reading a really long thread, where we discussed/designed my system.
The thread starts with the logic of buying the oversized tender in the first place and then moves on to all the problems that came with the decision.
The early pages have a number of different designs that may be useful here as well.

But the big point that I would like to make came in posts #71 to #75
It was JFM who made the breakthrough but with help from MapisM we found the end solution.
Read it here but make sure that you pour yourself a long drink before starting!!!
JW's Upgrades for 2016 - Tender

My problem is that the crane has cheeks which get in the way of the tender's tubes whilst the tender finally swings into its position.
And, as MapisM/JFM said, "Why not just take some air out of the tubes"???????
And, of course this process works well.
JFM suggested the little V notches that I showed in use in my last post above.
But, more importantly, just removing a small amount of air before lifting the tender works really well.
And a good electric air pump reflates it within seconds.

If anyone is considering oversizing a tender, this approach really works.
It only takes a few seconds with a good electric pump to reflate the tubes and, in my case only one tube needs a small amount of air removed.
John - that might work for you as well.

Just been thinking
Why not add the Novurania to your list, John?

Mine os the DL 430 (4.3m)
But they make smaller ones
DL335, DL360 and a DL400
See here
https://www.defender.com/pdf/Novurania-DL_2019_catalog.pdf

They are very high spec tenders - inbuilt fuel tanks etc.
Prices are about what you would expect - i.e. less than half the price of an equivalent Williams Jet

However, if anyone is thinking of buying one, I suggest that you contact me.
I can point out the difficulties that I had in getting mine.

EDIT
And I remember another problem - mine wouldn't plane with 9 people on board!!!

what did Novurania say when you informed then that their tender wouldn't plane with 50% more ppl and 50% more power then Mike?
:p
I didn't ask them - buying a Novurania was too complicated anyway so complaining on anything would have been pointless.
But.....
This year, I've changed the prop.
More power at slower speeds so maybe 9 people on board will plane!!!

Yes, I thought that aft 'V' on the chock was a clever idea Mike - I also have a Bravo pump and a 12V Marinco socket located in the crane locker, so relatively simple and fast to inflate/deflate tubes, and may indeed enable selection of a slightly larger tender - will take a look at Novurania....

John - what size tender are you looking at realistically - think on an F46 with tube deflation and that aft V chock addition I could probably look at 360 but no more

Do you think you could get a 13 foot AB Nautilus w/ 50 hp on the back of an F46 if passerelle strong enough - with your deflation idea?

Sorry been really busy last few days: Mmmmm not sure, I would ask those on Sealine Forum as I have not had an F46 my last boat was an F43 and the biggest I felt safe with was the 3.5m Ribeye.

Surely we have some other F46 owners that could comment on here...?

I know it can be a PIA getting on/off sometimes with a larger RIB on chocks on a BP, but I would definitely try to get the biggest one you can, perhaps considering a floating dock when on home berth? My old 3.4m Avon Rover was great, in fact I preferred it to the newer Ribeye TS350 I had, both with a 20hp Mariner 2T on the back.

Mmmm I tend to agree with Mike, its good to have a decent size Tender on the back, if you can squeeze it on. I also looked at the Cabrio Tenders, I quite liked the motor and folding transom arrangement.

On my F43, I first had a 3.4 Avon Rover twin skin GRP bottom then upgraded to an Ali bottomed Ribeye 3.5TS, both with a 20hp 2T Mariner. It did hang out a bit off the back. The Cooney passerelle crane easily lifted it though much greater lifting capacity! I will not mention a service tower incident, it was the crews fault, oh dear I just did...!

Whilst the 2.8m would fit well on the BP on a P45, I reckon I would prefer to try a larger Tender, not sure I would opt for a Jetski though, great to have one to play with, but I would much prefer a Tender, probably the Williams Minijet 280 but soooo very expensive to buy and maintain, so for me, I will be looking at hanging a 3.2 or even 3.4 out a bit if I can.

I do not have any pictures of my existing chocks, but hope to visit the boat when on a work trip to Spain before the end of this year, C19 permitting, if I do, I will take some photos and dims.

I am wondering how can we hang a tinder vs flitted directly to the platform.

I expect you would need a fairly substantial set of davits to handle the size/weight of tender/motor you may be looking for, you may also need additional frame/supports and it could impede access to your passerelle.

I reckon chocks are likely the best way forward, perhaps lifting the tender a little higher and over-hanging the BP, although again your passerelle ram may impedes access, that is what I did on my old F43, image below.

I could get a much larger Ribeye on my F43 than my P45.

My crane neatly stows in the transom on my P45, but it will only lift 200kg, so not ideal. At the moment, I just have a small Ribeye kept on a floating dock, which can be dropped on to the BP on chocks when out and about. Still considering my options....
