Princess hull numbers

Can anyone tell me when princess first started using hull id numbers and where to find, I know they were not compulsary till 1998 but I believe some used them long before, mine is 1982 as far as I know and is a 30DS.
I have a plate at the helm but that just gives a yard number.

Yours may pre-date HIN markings but from memory, the HIN was normally starboard side of the transom, just below the rubbing band.

I've got a 1991 Princess 435 and the hull number is stamped into the stern.

There is no compulsion to put anything in that box - if it does not have a HIN then no need to put anything in.
