Anyone know this boat, currently for sale via Princess Brokerage? Seems surprisingly good value compared to other apparently similar boats. Needs new exterior upholstery and electronics. Cat 3126 engines might be a turn off, but I know plenty of folks on here have them...

PM if you prefer. Thank you

Hi All

Yes, I bought her, her name was Fifty Fifty and is now CAIN.

She was in a very tired state, now looks a lot better, works completed so far:

1) New shower pump and float switch
2) AC needed re-charging now sorted
3) Replaced two small sea cocks and skin fittings
4) New fridge
5) Anti fouled, cut and polished
6) New vinyl to flybridge helm seats and backs
7) New push buttons to f/b helm panel
8) All decks Semco’d

Still to do:
A) New covers
B) Windscreen seals - although no leaks
C) Will fit more powerful fresh water pump
D) New Bimini
E) Will replace stern glands one has minor drip
F) Some gelcoat needs attention on bow deck
G) Windscreen washers (solenoid off fresh water line missing)

She had two previous owners, very low hours, mechanically well maintained and interior in good order commensurate with age, but the sea-cocks I don’t think had ever been moved, took a lot of care to free them all up.

Otherwise all major components worked really well, including Cats, Genny, Bow and Stern thrusters, Trim Tabs, Winch, Crane, Radar and Navigation, even the Eberspacher which I was surprised started straight away. Bilges and engine room very clean.

it did have the bug so the owner had local competent engineers (Angel Cornet) clean the tanks and lines and polish the fuel, there was signs of diesel in the bilges which concerned me but must have been left over from cleaning as she has been out twice with no new signs which is a relief.

So all looking good so far, I had the hull tested and readings were all in the green remarkably dry considering how long she’s been on berth. Oh and the previous owner paid for a set of new batteries! She was bought at risk and the final price reflected that.

Yes - I remember your first trip to the boatyard.
I thought you were being a bit ambitious doing it on her own engines/thrusters so I jumped in the Novurania and rushed across to the boatyard to help if required.
I thought that I may be able to help control the stern or something as she went into the lifting dock.
In fact, she handled very well - straight in - no problems - no need for any help.
I "kind of" wasted my time but who knows it could have been different.
I think you have a great bargain.
See you out there again sometime.

Yes thanks Mike, I really appreciated that gesture! It was good to know you were there if needed.

I was very surprised how well she handled given such heavy fouling. I decided not to use the thrusters, as I expected them to be heavily fouled and was glad I didn’t when I saw her when lifted. See you again soon.

Yes, there was - a couple of brazed joints (two systems) had miniscule leaks and needed repairing, charged with a holding charge of Nitrogen which held pressure after several weeks then the usual evacuation procedures and re-charging. Not used a sniffer yet, but will run around the system too when I get a chance just to make sure but time will tell.

Project going very well so far, better than expected - the genny and both engines started on the button and ran very clean indeed, fuel filter bowls crystal clear. Full engine service(s) due in the spring, so we shall see!

Where you out on Elessar's Sealine bought local to Sant Carles? Now that was an interesting transaction...! As I recall, Hurricane assisted with initial inspections....!

There was an Astondoa 46 I was considering in Castellon, which is tired and had been up for some time, its in need of attention but maybe worth a look/punt and sensible offer...!
