What could be the issue with CR? what shall I check for?

The point is that CR aren't Volvo agents so are unlikely to have been supplying brand new engines. As has been well documented on these forums in the past, they are great source of surplus new parts that they've bought from the big boat builders but the quality of their used / refurbished engines, outdrives, etc can be a bit patchy. So you might want to find out the provenance of the D6's, whether they were indeed brand new and what caused them to be re-sold by CR. On top of that, the installation of the engines needs expert assessment.

Instead of letting speculative opinions get in the way of what could be ok you should get the engine numbers and get the history checked by a Volvo dealer, this is the only way you will get the truth. I have known CR to sell new as well as SH so ask the question.

I bought my targa some 18 months ago and learned alot by the process.

If a seller/broker does not encourage you to have a full survey then walk away!..there is a reason why they are doing this.

If the engines have been replaced and there is no paper trail as to why and what was put in walk away..or get a full engine survey.

On my boat both engines were replaced some time ago but they were both the same age with the same number of hours on each.

If you don't have a record or servicing or the owner cannot show they know what they are talk about walk away...or again get a full engine survey.

A 100k ish boat such as this should have had money spent on it..and this will be obvious if it has not.

I looked at some boats that had scruffy engine bays with no sign of tools or spare filters etc onboard..it wasn't that they had been taken away either. When i pointed this out to the broker he just smiled and said nothing.

My boat has a full set of tools, spares for anything i could fix myself and manuals onboard. I have receipts for all the parts i have bought as well. This will show any buyer when i come to sell that i care about the boat.

OK good advise, I have now asked for the engine serial numbers, once i got them where shall i find the info?

Also very confused look on Volvo website and D6 370 come up as started manufacturing in 2013?

Thanks for all the help

First manufacture 2013 for a D6 370 is about right, they originally came out in 310hp, that range of boat normally had a 70 series engine installed a 73 or 74.

Serial numbers are actually for the gearbox, but the linked engine for the Port one shows up as :

Product Designation D6-370I-D
Serial Number
2006040516
DriveLine
VV 29723
Status
Commissioned
Manufacturing Date
05/05/2010
Shipped Date
03/06/2010
Delivery Date
10/05/2011
Detailed Segment - as sold
Marine Leisure Diesel

Starboard gearbox doesn't appear to be linked to an engine in the database, but that doesn't mean much.
Getting the actual engine numbers would be helpful.

This shows that engines were not sold as a repower or package , I'd guess the engines came from somewhere like Sealine factory as they often had a lot of unused engines , generators etc in stock that were sold as lots . I know as a mate bought a pair of 330s D6 that's were then sold on the CR without any transmissions.

Know the owner who had the engine refit. Both engines were new old stock sold through CR. Once installed they were commissioned by Volspec. This is the second sale since the engine refit. If interested have a survey and engineers report rather than listening to what might or might not right or wrong.

Interesting what the forum can turn up.
Posted many years ago regards a boat in Thames marina.
Turns out it had dropped during a lift and was an insurance not worth repair.
Somebody had obviously bought the remains and put it back into commission.
It may well have been perfectly usable boat at the right money and the info would have been helpful in making a decision.
