Bit of a long shot I know considering the age of these boats, but does anyone out there have an owners manual for the P40 that I could scan/copy please ?

Absolutely correct Petem, but I think the word 'legacy' has a different meaning to Princess.

I have contacted the 'legacy' people on a few occasions for my 20 year old P40, each time to be met with the response.......sorry we can't help you.

Princess Owners Club?

Incidentally, I have perhaps a dozen or so Fairline manuals and it's amazing how often I get asked for them (and on my forum). So if anyone has any soft copies of Fairline manuals please let me know so that I can add them to my archives.

Hi Andy, if you had asked a few months ago I would gladly have scanned my P40 manual for you, but I sold the boat when we discovered my g/f was terminally ill, so boating was suddenly out of the question.

The aftersales support experience with Princess seems to depend on who you talk to. For your boat's age, I recommend you try Hamish Moffatt, email retrofit@princess.co.uk, he was very helpful to me a couple of years ago. I've lost his card so sorry, no phone number, but he's in Plymouth.

Last resort, Mark Stronge at the Princess Owners club collects Princess manuals like petem collects Fairline ones, must be worth an email.

That's the chap (Hamish).

Sorry to hear about your g/f Jerry.

Pete

Hi Jerry,

I will call tomorrow and see if Hamish can help, many thanks for your help.

Very sorry to hear about your girlfriend, my thoughts are with you both.

Glad you got a result, especially for a 20 year old boat, but that was a relatively easy one for them, unlike Oldgit's ancient outsourced helm-seat fabric. If you get through to the right people and they can do it, they will do it. That's Princess for you - it helps preserve and strengthen the brand, something other boatbuilders could learn from.

It would make a good "sticky" post with links to owners manuals, a very handy resource. :)
