princess 35/ fairline 35 sedan

There is a nice 35 princess at newark marina, not sure of layout tho.

The 2 boats are totally different in lots of ways, the 36 sedan is far the better boat if you can find one thats in good cond now.

Contact bandit on this forum he has had one for sale the early one with the windows upper in the hull topsides but with new 63p motors a while back.

THe 36 sedan is a 30 knot boat with the 306hp engines in, the 35 is a different matter with the 200hp 41s in but is still a very good boat, all excellent hulls from the olesinski drawing board.

I know of a nice 36 turbo but not for that kind of money, 70k for a sedan will mean work, where as 70k is absolute tops for a p 35.

Have you thought of converting a dinette P35 to bunks' it hardly looks much of a job and done carefully, could give the best of both worlds.

Dependant on cabbage size, you could fit 3 in the dinette anyway.

I would add a little something here... the 36 sedan is a lovely big powerfull peice of kit... but ours didnt half suck the fuel.... I suppose the P35 will use fuel depending on her engines...

Might I suggest that you may be making false economy??

We got shot of our 36 sedan after realising that she was going to require a considerable amount of expensive maintanence due to her age... and had poor engine access and used a lot fuel...

We swapped her for a S34 which, whilst not being as good a sea boat... we found just as useable space wise... had far better engine access... needed less expensive fixing... and used a lot less fuel...

It may be worth your while to examine the operating costs and then factor this into your affordability calculation... you may find something like a yr 2000 or so S34 will in fact be as affordable... and less greif prone... than a older P35 or F36Sedan...

Just a suggestion!

Ta-da!!

This one seems to fit the bill at £74,950:

Its a stock boat at Essex Boatyards so a quick call to Nick Barke would see it close to your budget I reckon.

They also have a couple of Turbo 36s at similar money.

I sold my Sedan 36 last year after two years for sale. A good sea boat good layout and built like the proverbial brick out house.

A friend of ours has one and he owned a Pricess 35 before and he said it was no where near the sea boat as the Sedan.

This particular boat is opposite me now at RK yard, the skipper nearly took the side out of my friends boat this morning turning round in the river while the current was strong.

Thanks

Thanks again for all your advise. Finding the right boat at the right price is taking some doing all the best ones are being snapped up by people from the continent.

Of course the Sedan will be better, it's the same hull as the P35 except 5ft longer and more beam. Both designed by Olesinski, who revolutionized hull designed in the 80's. As VP says, it's not compareing eggs with eggs. The QE 2 is no doubt even better.

So the P35 was only 31ft long??

The Sedan 36 is much wider, heavier, taller and hull length a foot longer , volume says everything.

The P35 is 35 ft and a bit long. According to the web site above, the Sedan is 40ft long. I am well aware what a P35 is capable of, I've owned one for 11 years. According TO MBM of the time. It was the finest sea boat they had ever been on. At the time Fairline and Princess were vertually the same firm, a bit like Morris and Austin. Same boat with holes in different places.

I know little about the Sedan only what I read. Bigger boat, Bigger engines. Same boat.

From the Brochure Hull excluding swimplatform and bow roller and rails ie hull only 36'6''
beam 13'4''
draught 3'4''
Fuel capac 1055L
Water 454L
dry weight 8250kg without, fuel, fresh water, stores crew etc

I know mine with swimplatform, bow roller, rails etc 39ft 6'' overall.

I am not sure if they did it on the later Sedans or not but as Princess and everyone else started calling the models with the overall length including swim platform the later Turbo36 was renamed the 38 turbo and it was identical.

38 Turbo never existed AFAIK!
LOA model designation where introduced by Fairline in fall 1991, and fall 1992 by Princess.
Sunseeker are still to today a bit larger to the model designation, so may be they giving yu more money or more fiberglass to the buck.

The Turbo 38 most definitelly existed but only in the last year or two of production 92 and 93 ? I have only ever seen a couple badged as 38.

I dont think the Sedan 36 was ever called a 38 only the Turbo.

The Turbo and Sedan 36/38 share the same hull which was one of the most popular ever over 130 sedans and 220 Turbos
