Fired up the engine yesterday (sat), have got water leak on the oil cooler just below oil filter. I think it is corrded on the rear of the casting that bolts to the engine block.
the leak is from the rear of the casting. Have removed the oil filter, underneath is a large nut, is this the nut that holds the casting to the engine block?. engine is a volvo aq 130 petrol. Also what is the correct procedure for starting engine from cold,do you operate the throttle several times to squirt fuel via the accelaertor pumps in to the carbs. thanks for any help.

First point is get yourself a manual, they are £ 20 from Keypart and they'll save you a huge amount of hassle.
The oil cooler is a tube stack within a big tube with a cap and O Ring each end. Sounds like the leak is either an o ring or possibly the tube going into it.
Take oil filter off and theirs a big nut below which holds the assy to the engine. Undo the feed pipes which are the raw water feed and it should pull off. It has a long through bolt which you undo and the assembly should split down. Get the stack cleaned whilst you have it apart, while talking to Keypart you'll need an O Ring kit.
Fiddly access on most makes it a right PITA.

Given the boats name in your profile I'd assume a Maltese connection!

As for starting up a few pumps of the throttle should do it.

thanks tr7v8, yes mdinabay has a maltese connection but me and the wife did not name her that, altough we did go there on honymoon!. that was the main reason we bought her. I am currently trying to sell her as i have gone halves with a mate on this princess 25 but it is turning out not to be such a good buy.
