Bought the Chinese copy of the Racon as recommended by a couple of contributors to the Part 1 of this thread. Its named a KATSU.

Surprised at its height its about 300mm. May have to consider other places to mount it.

There are no separate instructions with it.

On body its states before fitting put in a new filter core so I assume it needs the paper internal filter but do you undo the top by turning the top brass "T" piece? Its very tight and I dont want to force anything. It does say to replace filter core - loosen the filter cover handle .

2nd problem is in lower clear bowl there is orange circular piece about 40mm dia and 9mm high and its just loose and flopping around! It appears to be an fit to go over what appears to be a circular centrifugal thrower but it would then block.the thrower outlets.

I assume jolting has caused this orange piece to fall off. I cannot see any need for this to be just transit protection.

If I remove the bottom glass bottom bowl to refit it then I assume I will need a couple of dabs of glue as if it fell off in transit then it is more likely to fall off again when in use and parts more slippery by being in diesel.

Can someone who has also bought one of these advise please?

I will also try to contact supplier.

Undo the top by unscrewing the tee handle. The red plastic ring is meant to be loose. It floats between any water and diesel to make it obvious if you have a build up of water in the bowl. My glass bowl is secured by screws and was firmly attached when it was delivered.

You can currently get these Katsu jobs on ebay for £18 inc P&P.

Unfortunately a spare element seems to be more than that?
R12T elements cheap anywhere?

These glass bowl jobs are £13-odd, you can get a cleanable metal element to go inside.
Glass Fuel Sediment Filter Bowl Assy for Fordson Major Super Major Volvo Tractor | eBay
No tools to empty it.
Might be good for first stage of tank cleaning rig.
Or on the boat, it would give an easy visual check of fuel health?

Genuine Beta fuel filter seems to only be £10.50.

Thanks guys - did not consider that its a water level indicator - not got that on old filter.

Anyone got the Racor filter reference number or an equivalent replacement please.
