The small rugged PC that is being advertised in YM this month can be yours for £1500 ex vat and you'll need to find a bit more to get the mouse and a keyboard and anything else that you might need to make it go.

If you buy the same product through YW it is only £750.
So - whats going on here, I would have expected to pay more for the one from YW and yet the YM one costs more. Had we better stop reading YM and go over to YW?

Fractal cauliflowers ...

to convince dear 'art of your comitment to the claymore garden tasks youse wis bangin' oan aboot, here's a picture of a virtual cauli which can be displayed at any time on your new computer. being a fractal image, you can vary the appearance such that the cauli reflects the actual season of the year and could be made to represent a true and fair picture of the actual brassica as grown in the claymore garden and would thus be a useful prop when holding forth at the allotment assoc agm or just, down at the local pub where you can be amongst your peers ....

hope that helps ...

But if you look in YM product reviews, you'll see a brand new outboard for less than £20 - which is probably cheaper than in YW, I suspect. Depends on whether the Sub is the same.

The system also uses an invertor as a power supply, and is not ruggedised <s>

So why not buy one from PC world with everything and pop to maplin and buy an invertor.

Considering most PC's use 12v, 5v, 3.3v why invert when you have a 12v already onboard, invertors are noisy and inefficient, this is IMO a poor effort at a computer affloat, buy a laptop much the same for less money.

I was at the press launch for this product and, although I have not got the paperwork to hand, the price quoted in YM is certainly about right. I haven't read the YW piece so it may be the price relates to a different specification. Also YM prices always include VAT while YW prices usually don't (although this would not bridge the gap by any means)

Brother is tied up next to me, even more fun, already into my cask strength malts! Bugger!

Re: Banned GM Crop

I think you will find that the Cauli's in question were grown from banned GM seed.. Infact rumour has it that it was infact a pirated seed with unknown genetic material.. hence the mutant in the middle/forums/images/icons/wink.gif
