Well boys and girls have been without a boat for 18 months and cant take much more, So after our Targa 33 we are now looking at at Prestige 36 flybridge. Seems like the perfect boat for us but have a couple of questions:
The bed set up in the saloon, cant seem to see how this works, my son who will be the one kipping on it is 6`3". how does this work and any idea of the size?
There is no holding tank on the boat we are interested in, is this a made to measure job? any idea of cost?

thanks very much

I have serviced many 32s and the 36s, the engine room isnt the best in the world so make sure you get a machiney survey as there are service items that can be overlooked due to poor access, if the boats got tamd63ps then the stb impeller is a really hard job unless the floor has been custom made and the saloon seating can be removed to allow access to get at the oil filters and impellers, the last 36 with 63s in I spent a good day removing the furniture before I could even start work!

Holding tanks come in lots of standard sizes and can also be custom made. Try eg www.leesan.com. By the time you have bought the tank, deck fitting, valves, hoses, seacock, Sealand control panel and depth indicator, diaphragm pump, you are looking at £1800 in parts (for a proper job with high quality gear). Then you might have £800 in labour, plus a crane-out to fit the seacock.

We bought a P32 in 06, great boat but we not have bought it if we had been on the P36, much better boat that had all the bits sorted that were 'small' on the 32.
Should be easy enough to get all the parts from the Y pipe to the holding tank, we had volvo D4 260 hp and agree with VP that they are a PITA to service but they were easy enough once you had figured out what was where (hint, tie all spanners onto a bit of string)
Why the saloon and not the rear cabin? on the P32 this was (my opinion) the better bed to sleep on.
Anyway, great boat.

Anyway, great boat.

The boat has KAMD 300s which are 285 hp, we will be using the boat on the upper Thames so will only need holding tank with pump out deck fitting and not overboard discharge.
Rear cabin has been bagged by my teenage daughter.

Just need to try and get the right price before we get out the champers

Ah, daughters, know where you are coming from. When we had the P32 we were based in Maryport in the NW of cumbria which has some large tidal flows, the 32 took the seas really well and I can only believe the 36 would be even better.
If you have a straight discharge the you would add a y pipe (I would suggest) and the holding tank which would also mean you need a masorator too, if this is a diy project pm me as I have one (un-used) that I would happily move on for a bit of wheeler dealing

Tamd63ps are 370hp, the 63l version without the wastegate turbos were 318hp.

Ive serviced a few with the 63ps in and yes they are tight, as is the 32 with the kad 300 in, basically the rear bulkhead is fixed and does not allow access to the gearboxes and sternglands on the 32.

the last 36 with 63s in I spent a good day removing the furniture before I could even start work!

Yep!
Sunday, I was on one
Doing some instructy stuff
Warning light came on, starboard side!
What a nuisance.
Anyway twas low on oil, sorted that out
So, back to the peeps next weekend for more training and stuff
But will be armed with the nessecarry to 'uncover' what else may be amiss with said side.

The Owners did comment just as I was leaving, that also (just had the boat) were a bit puzzled how the bedding arrangement worked in the 'salloon'.

So Chill, I await the answers ref that too.
Oh and by the way
This Prestige has a holding tank
I will suss the arragement out and report back if you like!

I had a p36 with the tamd 63p engines and to answer some of the pints:

Yes we had to have the side seats altered to allow easy access to the engines from the cabin floor and this made all the difference. The engines were big and although only made about 2 knots difference in speed but did ion fact give a much better ride especially in rough weather.

The boat handles well and we never worried about its handling in any weather conditions.

Yes the main cabin double berth conversion. Bit of a pig really as the cushions dont end up giving you a flat area. I have used it a few times and ended up just as happy removing the back cushions and lying on the settee by itself. It works like this very well.

I forgot re holding tank
Prestige fit a small holding tank under the floor between the heads and the guest cabin and to do this it has to be a special manufacture. I am sure there are alternative options using more standard tanks but there is not a lot of room really.

Second point on the berth conversion: its an extra but not thought out very well, and for 2 peeps you find yourself rolling together which might be ok depending on who you are sharing with.

If you could check if there is a manufacturers plate on the holding tank that would be great to contact the original suppliers as they may have one on the shelf.

Wait with interest regarding the saloon bed.

Cheers, Chill
