Hello all,

We are starting to look for a bigger boat. Our Regal 2665 is soon to be on the market and we are exploring our options. This past weekend we viewed a Prestige 32. We absolutely loved it; what a clever use of (limited) space. The boat had twin KAMD 300 diesels.

The only issue I could see is getting to the outsides of the respective engines as I like to do my own servicing. Looks like you have to hang upside down under the saloon seats! Is there another way to gain more access? Does anyone has any experience maintaining these engine in a Prestige and can you please comment about access for both routine maintenance and access for more complicated tasks such a cleaning heat exchangers, changing impeller, etc?

Thanks, -Jason

Just an observation but virtually all gains in boat interior volume on small craft appear to have been at the expense of the space around the engines and other vital machinery.
If you cannot access an item or even worse not even see it ,it is all too easy not to be aware of a minor problem until it has developed it a major (and expensive) one.
If it is a awful job to change/service/repair something,it tends to be left, usually for the next owner.Something that owners of outdrives know only to well :)
Your boat has been mentioned before regards difficulty of access for servicing !
Now might be a good time to ask for comments on those engines as well.

Thanks Oldgit. Yes that is also a worry that the previous owner/engineer neglected but I am hoping that being a relatively young boat will help somewhat (rolls eyes). But the first order of business if I buy such a boat will be to try to inspect/service both engines in detail. Cheers, -jason
