Preservation of your mooring shackles etc

A picture speaks a thousand words ... so:

Six seasons on a riser.
Just heat (in a domestic oven) & coat with boiled linseed oil.

That's pretty impressive. It reminded me of friend who used to knock up steel pipework on fishing boats. He would heat the assembly to cherry red(ish) and drop it into a drum of old mineral car oil. The pipework lasted at least five years - it wouldn't have made a season untreated.
